All are invited to join us at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center for our 2nd Annual Hygge Market from 10 AM - 2 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026. This year, we’re excited to collaborate with our next-door neighbors, the NYM Public Library, to expand the market experience! While the Cultural Center will feature artists and makers, the Library will focus on hosting local authors—creating an even more vibrant, cozy event.Hygge is defined as "a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture)." Hygge is a way of life for Danes that embodies a sense of coziness, simplicity, and being present.

Puzzle purses (also known as folding love letters) were popular in the Victorian era and often used to share heartfelt messages in a beautifully decorative form. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to create your own puzzle purse to gift to someone special or keep as a meaningful personal treasure.

The second workshop of the day is a make-and-take workshop. Participants are invited to create a Victorian-inspired “Heart in Hand” paper Valentine during this free make-and-take activity. This hands-on project uses construction paper, simple cutting techniques, and paper weaving to create a symbolic and meaningful handmade keepsake.
The “Heart in Hand” motif—popular in Victorian-era valentines—represents friendship, love, and generosity, making it a perfect project for the day. This activity is beginner-friendly, and all materials are provided.
