At the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center, our windows frame more than a view. They frame concerts, art exhibits, student workshops, community conversations, and the everyday magic of creativity in rural Minnesota.
Right now, those windows are failing us.
Windows to the Future is our plan to fix that — thoughtfully, sustainably, and together.
Windows to the Future is a multi-faceted initiative connected to our once-in-a-generation Capital Campaign to restore and expand our historic building while strengthening our long-term sustainability.
This project brings together building restoration, energy efficiency, public art, community engagement, and legacy giving — all centered around transforming our aging front façade and historic brick building into something that reflects who we are and where we’re headed.
Call for Art Proposals
When construction begins, we don’t want plywood and barriers to define this moment. Instead, we’re transforming the temporary façade wall into a community mural gallery.
Artists are invited to interpret “Windows to the Future” as symbols of:
- Possibility
- Sustainability
- Progress
- Imagination
Selected 4 ft x 4 ft designs will be painted during community events February – April, turning our renovation site into a collaborative art experience.
This project celebrates artists, invites hands-on community participation, makes construction creative, and connects art and energy education. Join us in bringing it to life!
Submission Deadline: March 15
Selected artists receive $100 per design.
