Join Visiting Artist Mia Cinelli for an evening of exploring the historical context and importance of typography, along with drafting your OWN font! This workshop is designed to spark a deeper appreciation and recognition of typography in our daily lives. Bring your questions, your curiosity, and even your imagination to create your font!

Mia Cinelli Artist Bio: Mia Cinelli is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky. Her design practice encompasses an eclectic span of poetic and pragmatic objects, installations, and graphics that have been exhibited nationally and internationally. Recently, her typographic works have been acknowledged with Best in Festival for New Work at DesignTO (2020), a Graphis Silver award for typeface design (2018), a Society of Typographic Arts “STA 100” award (2019), and a Communication Arts Typography award (2020). In 2024, her first book, “Giving Type Meaning: Context and Craft in Typography,” was published through Bloomsbury in the United Kingdom.       All are welcome to join Mia at this Pop Up Workshop on July 24th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the NYM Regional Cultural Center Gallery.
