Programs
The
New York Mills Regional Cultural Center provides classes for youth and adults through the year.
- The Jerome Foundation funds our Art Retreat program, bringing artists from Minnesota and New York City and around the world to New York Mills. Each artist provides outreach education activities in communities throughout the region as part of their residency.
- Local and regional artists provide classes in fine and folk arts during the year.
- The CarriAnn Pollard School of Dance provides instructio in ballet, mondern, tap, and hip hop in the Center's dance studio.
- Students from Kindergarten through 6th grade are represented in a regional art show with representatives from 14 schools in the region.
- Students in 7th through 12th grades from 25 schools are represented in a show of work sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League each spring.
- Working in collaboration with the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Center assists teachers in local schools to use "Art Adventure" materials provided by the Art Institute.
- Events held each year that involve youth outreach include the Talvi Juhla winter celebration in February, The kite festival in April, the Great American Think-Off in June, and the Puppet Pageant in August.
